Museum of the History of Science and Technology in Islam
Located in the building of the former Imperial stables of the Topkapı Palace, in the Gülhane Park, the Museum of the History of Science and Technology in Islam was officially opened on May 24, 2008. The museum exhibits the significant role played by medieval Muslim scientists, inventors, and physicians. The museum covers fifteen scientific fields including astronomy, mathematics, geography, physics, warfare, and chemistry amongst others. Almost none of the items on display are actual historical artefacts, but instead are reconstructions of historical instruments and tools that were built for the museum by the University of Frankfurt’s Institute of Arabic and Islamic Sciences.
