Istanbul Railway Museum
Designed by Prussian architect August Jasmund, Sirkeci Railway Station was built in the late 19th century for the Oriental Railway Company and was the last station on the Orient Express route. It now houses Istanbul Railway Museum which was opened on September 23, 2005 by the Turkish State Railways (TCDD). The museum covers an area of 145 m2 and displays 300 objects; the original site plans, drawings, photos, railway equipment, collection of lamps, coal burner was used in the 19th century for heating the first class rooms, old piano, furniture and silver services of the Orient Express, station office equipment, driver’s cab of an electric suburban train, communication tools of Rumeli railways and Thrace line, objects from the railway school, and the hospital.
