Our university maintains its academic development by sharing the same environment with a research center (İSAM) worldwide renowned in the field of humanities and social sciences. We differ greatly by being located in a science center where important scientific researches and publications have been carried out, a lot of scientific meetings have been held and cultural activities have been realized for a quarter-century.

Our Campus

İstanbul 29 Mayıs University presents you a spacious and peaceful campus environment in the city center, embraced by nature. Our campus is in Bağlarbaşı/Üsküdar. It is based in such a place that it is very easy to reach all the central districts of Istanbul and also cultural and natural points of attraction directly and so easily, as it is only in a walking distant from Bosporus Bridge and Metrobus.

Library

The lecturers and the students of İstanbul 29 Mayıs University benefit from the facilities of ISAM Library, which is based on our campus. The library which is open to our university members is arguably the best library of Turkey in social sciences, especially in History, Philosophy, Literature, Islam and Religious Studies. Our university has started to comprise its own library and approximately 40.000 books were obtained for our library from the different fields of social and human sciences.

As İstanbul 29 Mayıs University esteem to provide its graduates with the knowledge which is requisite of the life and the profession as a duty, it also presents opportunities for the willing and talented students to get prepared for the postgraduate programs starting from their undergraduate studies.

Foreign Language Instruction

In İstanbul 29 Mayıs University, instruction language is Turkish, however, starting from 2011 – 2012 academic year, ‘Voluntary English Preparatory Class’ with the team of highly qualified instructors was opened for the Faculty of Arts and Letters, as well as there is a ‘Compulsory Arabic Preparatory Class’ within the Faculty of International Islam and Religious Sciences and “Turkish Preparatory Class” for the students who come from abroad. From the beginning of 2012-2013 Academic Year English Preparatory Classes are compulsory for the students of the Faculty of Arts. In order to enable students to benefit from the facilities of the School of Foreign Languages we created the most encouraging environment for language studiers.

Double Major and Lateral Branch Programs

At our university, there are opportunities for a range of Double Major and Lateral Branch Programs in both in-faculty and between the departments and programs in different faculties. Also, within the curriculum of our departments, there are ‘free optional classes’ which enable our students to choose other courses given.
