Museum of The Princes’ Islands

The Princes’ Islands were a melting pot of civilisations that once gathered Greeks, Armenians and Turks together. With the aim of documenting and preserving the area’s heritage, the Museum of the Princes’ Islands was opened on the largest of the Princes’ Islands. The museum is situated on an area of 1100 m². It consists of an enclosed area of 700 m², permanent exhibition galleries of 400 m² and a temporary exhibition hall of 225 m². In addition, there is a museum shop, workshops, café, storage areas, archives and offices. Founded in 2010, the Museum of the Princes’ Islands is Istanbul’s first contemporary city museum and it tells the fascinating story of the multicultural Islands. The museum’s collection is largely composed of daily life ordinary objects, oral history records, archival documents, videos, photographs and some interesting civil architectural and engineering materials. Besides the exhibitions narrating the islands’ story, the Museum of the Princes’ Islands keeps the passion for the Islands alive.
